Well Dave was going to be able to go on the trip but the Nascar Fan (Cindy) wouldn't work for me on Sunday and I even offered her $50..now I'm the only one this side of the Mississippi that hasn't seen the house. I guess I will have to wait a while longer..Rachel says it is very cold and she was not prepared for it. Rachel's friend Christy is staying with the Killer D. and she had some problems late last night and I had to go over there at midnight because she said Toby was trying to attack her??? Crazy kids more news as it becomes available....

On the road again...
Mom, Rachel, and Sarah are driving on an 8+ hour trek up north today!! I believe that they will be stopping in Ann Arbor for a couple of hours for lunch and a stroll downtown.
Maybe a stop at the Lumberjack for some stew...mmmmm...I don't think this crowd is a big fan of the beef stew in a sourdough breadbowl - hehe...
They will be picking up dad later this evening at the Cherry Captial Airport in Traverse City...then headed to the Whaleback Inn!
It should be a very exciting weekend as the weather has been relatively stable and a lot of progress should have been made to the house!!

Sugar Loaf Returns!
CEDAR - Folks packed into the Sugarfoot Saloon Saturday to get a glimpse of the woman they hope will be the savior of Sugar Loaf. As champagne and cake were served, Kate Wickstrom, who closed on a deal to purchase the resort last month, took questions from an eager crowd.
When will Sugar Loaf start hiring employees? Will she get a liquor license? Will she hire locals? Will she change the name? Soon; an application has been filed; yes; and no, Wickstrom said Saturday, standing atop a bar in a room so filled with people it was difficult to move.
One guest asked the question that seemed to be on the top of everyone's mind - "On a scale of one to 10, how would you rate the certainty of skiing returning to Sugar Loaf?" "The certainty of it?" Wickstrom said, pausing for a moment. "Ten," she said finally, causing the room to erupt in applause.
Many expressed optimism that Wickstrom, a Leelanau County native, could bring a bright future to a resort that has in the recent past been so disappointing, shuttered since it's previous owner closed it amid financial troubles in 2000. "It's been a strong part of this area for so long, when the place shut down it was like a relative died," said Karl Kitchen, who worked at Sugar Loaf for eight years. Kitchen said he believes Wickstrom will turn around the resort's fate because she's from the area and because she's taking a hands-on approach to getting the resort going.
Wickstrom said skiing will not likely return this winter because of the state of the ski lift equipment. Her first priority, she said, is to open the resort for dining and entertainment.

Delta connection to TVC
If the Delta fare is reasonable, we can take this direct flight once in a while for a quick weekend up North, or perhaps for a 3-day holiday weekend.

CINCINNATI – March 3, 2005 – Delta (NYSE: DAL) customers looking to enjoy the lazy days of summer on the beaches of the Great Lakes will again find it convenient to reach the Grand Traverse Bay thanks to the return of seasonal non-stop jet service between Cincinnati and Traverse City, Mich., operated by Delta Connection carrier Comair.
The seasonal service to Traverse City provides access to the Cherry Capital of the World, with thousands of acres of cherry orchards surrounding this quaint Northwest Michigan town. For Traverse City customers, it also offers one-stop service to 138 destinations served by Delta and the airline’s codeshare partners from Cincinnati.
Beginning June 3rd, 2005 - Delta Connection - Comair - will provide flights departing from Cincinnati (CVG) @ 10:50am to Traverse City (TVC) @ 12:10pm. The returning flight would be departing Traverse City (TVC) @ 12:30pm and arriving in Cincinnati (CVG) @ 2:00pm.
My only question is....and they do not specify on the website....if this is during weekdays vs. weekend trips (and for that matter...how much???)

'Hello' Application now works
It seems as though 'Hello' has worked out their bugs. I just sent a test picture out to the blogspot site (it successfully posted...so I removed it...), so feel free to post pictures.
The www.flickr.com site will just be used on a temporary basis...that is if 'Hello' decides to act up again.
I went ahead and replaced the 'flickr' pics with the 'Hello' pics b/c it allows you to enlarge the picture when you click on it.
Please use the procedures I originally sent out and you shouldn't have any problems.

Icynene to be installed ~Tuesday 4/12/05!!!
We just received word today that the Icynene insulation will be tentatively installed for Tuesday, April 12!!! Check out the link on our blog for more details on Icynene insulation. It's a reactive chemical spray-on material that expands on impact - neat stuff!!
Picture downloads...
OK - I'm having some difficulties downloading pics with the 'Hello' application. In the meantime, pictures will need to be downloaded via an image hosting website - http://www.flickr.com. If you have pics that you would like added to the blog, send them to me and I can add them. I hope this is temporary.

Jet Ski vs. Snow Mobile? And...a birthday!!!!
OK - I've given this some thought and I think at this point...a jet ski would not be as practical as the snow mobile. The water is particularly cold in Lake Michigan and in it's surrounding bays for a good part of the summer...probably only about one month out of the year where it would be comfortable without a wet suit. Wet suits are a pain to put on too...
Now the snow mobile...with our business dreams in Suttons Bay...that sounds a bit more practical. The snow mobile would be the primary means of transportation for delivering the product. I won't go into a whole lot of detail on this site...as it is public...and have someone else steal our business idea!!
As an aside - Rachel, Dave, Sarah, Josh, and Mom and Dad had a wonderful dinner at Daveed's last night in Mount Adam's! It was a celebration of Mom's birthday!
Dave had: Duck - waitress had asked 'How would you like that done?' Puzzled...because none of us have ever heard poultry being done anything else being well done...right? Nonetheless, he enjoyed the dish and offered bites to the courageous.
Rachel had: Petite Mesclun & Belgium Endive Salad w/orange, Danish blue cheese & candied walnuts & fennel pollen Banylus vinaigrette, Some fancy, vegetarian 'Mac & Cheese'...and oh buddy...it was good.
Sarah had: Mixed Greens & French Lentils w/pancetta & bread croutons, whole grain mustard vinaigrette & shaved grana padana (Sarah has a craving for bacon once in awhile), Halibut w/ fresh vegetables and other good stuff
Birthday Girl had: Petite Mesclun & Belgium Endive Salad w/orange, candied walnuts & fennel pollen Banylus vinaigrette, Some fancy, vegetarian 'Mac & Cheese'
Dad had: Pan Seared Maine Day Boat Sea Scallops w/caramelized cauliflower puree & madras curry raisin viniagrette (three huge, plump pieces!), the salad...I don't recall..., the flank steak w/ mashed potatoes and other good stuff...I had a bite...it was good!
Josh had: Pan Seared Maine Day Boat Sea Scallops w/caramelized cauliflower puree & madras curry raisin viniagrette, Baby Arugula Salad w/eggplant & olive tapenade & goat cheese, Moroccan Spiced Atlantic Salmon w/Bouillabaisse broth, rock shrimp, confit of fennel, onion & orzo pasta
For dessert: Everyone shared (I'll butcher the spelling...) Patisserie (assortment of little cakes w/ topping, fresh fruit in syrup, and other tasty treats, creme brulee, and an collection of homemade chocolates (Dave and I joked that they just took them out of an old Valentine's Day box...hehe....)
All in all...it was a great celebration!! Happy Birthday Nancy - Mom - even though it is cut one hour short!!!!
